MY STORY
My connection to nature began long before I ever picked up a camera or paintbrush. My father worked for the National Park Service, and growing up I was fortunate to spend much of my childhood exploring America's national parks. My parents nurtured both my curiosity and my love of drawing, encouraging me to attend art camps and join park rangers on "walk and sketch" hikes, where I learned that slowing down and truly observing a place often reveals more than simply passing through it.
Our home was filled with images that quietly shaped the way I see the world. The photographs of Ansel Adams, the pioneering landscapes of William Henry Jackson, and countless well-worn issues of National Geographic sparked a fascination with wild places that has stayed with me ever since.
Photography became my way of learning to see. It taught me patience, inviting me to notice the subtle shifts in light, weather, and expression that are so easily overlooked. Painting grew from that practice, allowing me to interpret those moments rather than simply record them.
Today my work explores three connected themes. Creatures of Character celebrates the individuality of wildlife and the stories that seem to live behind every glance and gesture. When Conditions Align is inspired by those fleeting moments when light, weather, and landscape come together in ways that can't be planned, only witnessed. Intimates & Abstracts invites a closer look at the textures, colors, and quiet patterns that often escape our attention.
Whether I'm standing on a mountain trail with a camera or in my studio with a brush in hand, I'm still chasing the same sense of wonder I discovered as a child. My hope is that my work encourages others to slow down, look a little closer, and reconnect with the remarkable beauty that surrounds us every day.
NATURE
Every trail, changing season, and quiet encounter reminds me that the natural world is filled with stories waiting to be noticed.
PHOTOGRAPHY
My camera is always with me. It helps me slow down and pay attention to the moments I want to paint back in the studio.
PAINTING
Working primarily in acrylics, I place wildlife in unexpected settings, inviting viewers to see familiar subjects through a fresh and often playful perspective.

MY PROCESS
①
EXPLORE & PHOTOGRAPH
I spend time in nature, observing and photographing the moments, light, and scenes that inspire me.
②
Back in the studio, I sketch ideas and experiment with colors, composition, and mood.
SKETCH & EXPERIMENT
③
Sometimes the images speak for themselves and are better as photographs, others ask to be painted. Using acrylics, I build each painting layer by layer, refining the details and atmosphere over time.
BUILD THE PAINTING
④
Once complete, I have museum-quality prints made so the work can be enjoyed for years to come.
